Holiday Hosting With... Nadia Fairfax

This week STT spoke to Nadia Fairfax on her hosting tips and traditions.

What is your favourite hosting tradition, and why does it hold special meaning for you?
I don't think I have any traditions around hosting - in my eyes, each event should feel different from the next. We create new memories, new feelings to remember.

Do you have any must-have tips for setting a memorable table or creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests?
People really notice when you put the effort in - spend the time matching your florals to your napery, placing the cutlery correctly, writing placecards. My favourite thing is having your children write the placecards! My Cordelia is too young, but I love when other families do it. Such a personal touch, and it's so bloody cute!

What are you serving your guests this holiday?
Lots of fruit!!!! It's so aesthetically pleasing to see and refreshing to eat. We're so blessed to live in a country with magnificent produce. Lean into it!

How do you make your gatherings feel unique and personal?
I really try to match the music to the "theme" Your tablescape is red, you're eating italian food - DER, italian music. It's a no brainer and really gets your guests feeling the vibe. There are so many fantastic spotify playlists you can find, there really is no excuse these days.

As we look ahead to holiday hosting, do you have any seasonal tips for entertaining with ease?
Do as much as you can the night before. Set the table, do the florals, iron your shirt. Anything you can think of. There is nothing better than having the chance to pop the music on, pour a glass of bubbles and have a solo twirl before everyone else arrives to get you in the mood.
